Mr. K Wins Méliès d’Or Best Feature Film 2025

Mr. K by Tallulah H. Schwab wins the Méliès d’Or for the best European fantasy film of the year. The award was presented on Monday evening at the Sitges Film Festival, the largest fantasy film festival in Europe. Mr. K previously won the Méliès d’argent at the recent Imagine Fantastic Film Festival. This is the first time a Dutch feature film has won the Méliès d’Or.

About the Méliès International Festivals Federation
The Méliès International Festivals Federation (MIFF) aims to promote European fantasy films. The MIFF has 35 members from around the world. The MIFF organises a series of competitions at its affiliated festivals, with the winner receiving the Méliès d’argent, or Silver Méliès. Once a year, the Méliès d’or, or Golden Méliès, is chosen from among these winners.

About the competition
In addition to Mr. K, the following films were in competition: Animale (Emma Benestan, France), After Us, The Flood (Arto Halonen, Finland), The Home (Mattias Johansson Skoglund, Sweden), The Ugly Stepsister (Emilie Blichfeldt, Norway), Her Will Be Done (Julia Kowalski, France/Poland) and The Holy Boy (Paolo Strippoli, Italy).
