European Film Academy elects Leontine Petit as Deputy Chair

The European Film Academy (EFA) has concluded its voting for the 2026 intake, announcing the election of Dutch producer Leontine Petit as a new Deputy Chair in its board leadership.

Leontine, who has been a regular EFA board member since 2021, will assume her two-year mandate on January 1, 2026. She joins Romanian producer Ada Solomon, who was elected as the new Chair, and France’s Matthieu Darras, who will serve alongside her as the other Deputy Chair.

The new leadership will take over from outgoing Chair Mike Downey, with Ada Solomon, having previously served as Deputy Chair for six years.

The new board will work closely with EFA CEO Matthijs Wouter Knol, with the next European Film Awards ceremony set to take place in Berlin on January 17.
